communication: Internal discussions within a company are typically the focus of
corporate communication. Interdepartmental communication, employee,
stockholder, investor, and executive team communication are key components of
its duties.
Public relations: PR typically engages the public on behalf of the organisation. Public relations includes all forms of communication with the media, including social media, pitches, events, and the like.
Scope of work
Corporate communication professionals are in charge of
connecting all organisational departments through staff newsletters, internal
websites, blogs, and other means. You must be able to communicate the
organization's agenda to various personnel with differing degrees of secrecy,
and you must do it with insider knowledge.
A PR specialist's primary objective is to manage the reputation
of an organisation by developing and distributing noteworthy stories to the
media, journalists, corporate events, and through marketing channels.
When the business
experiences a reputational crisis, the PR team is also in charge of any
backlash. Additionally, they serve as the organization's spokesperson and are
in charge of representing the corporation in public communications. They must
be able to function in a fast-moving atmosphere with shifting priorities.
Keep your eye out for
Corporate communication: If you work in corporate
communications, you must be completely knowledgeable about the company,
including its future plans, how its employees view it, what is being said
internally about it, and any interdepartmental disputes.
In order to be a successful member of a PR team, a
person must have a strong eye for the newest trends and the ability to exploit
those trends to publicise the organisation. A PR expert's love of news is also
helpful. In general, you must be able to monitor and share internal feedback on
public perceptions of your company.
